orcompletegrasscatcherassemblymounted

inplace,youandothersareexposedtoblade

contactandthrowndebris.Contactwith

rotatingcutterdeckblade(s)andthrowndebris

willcauseinjuryordeath.

•Neverremovethegrassdeectorfromthe

cutterdeckbecausethegrassdeector

routesmaterialdowntowardtheturf.Ifthe

grassdeectoriseverdamaged,replaceit

immediately.

•Neverputyourhandsorfeetunderthe

cutterdeck.

•Nevertrytocleardischargeareaorcutter

deckbladesunlessyoumovetheblade

controlswitchtoOffandrotatetheignition

keytoOff.Alsoremovethekeyandpullthe

wireoffthesparkplug(s).

RemovingandInstallingthe

DischargeCover

Thecutterdeckandmowerbladesshippedwith

thismachineweredesignedforoptimummulching

performance.Sidedischargeperformancecanbe

improvedbyreplacingthemulchingbladeswith

standardcuttingbladesobtainedfromyourlocal

authorizedHayterdealer.Tomaintainoptimum

mulchingperformance,alwaysinstallthemulching

bladesthatareshippedwiththisunitwhenchanging

backtomulchingoperation.

RemovingtheDischargeCoverfor

SideDischarge

Note:Ifthebaggerattachmentisaddedthemachine,

standardbladesmustbeinstalledforproperbagging

function.

1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceanddisengage

thebladecontrolswitch.

2.Movethemotioncontrolleversoutwardtopark

position,stoptheengine,removethekey,andwait

forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe

operatingposition.

3.Removethetwobolts(1/4x2-1/2inches)andtwo

capnuts(1/4inch)thatsecurethedischargecover

tothecutterdeck(Figure25).

InstallingtheDischargeCoverfor

Mulching

1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceanddisengage

thebladecontrolswitch.

2.Movethemotioncontrolleversoutwardtopark

position,stoptheengine,removethekey,andwait

forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe

operatingposition.

3.Liftthegrassdeectorandslidethetabsontop

ofthedischargecoverunderthegrassdeector

retainingrod.Rotatethedischargecoverdownover

theopening,andontothelowerlipofthecutter

deck(Figure25).

4.Securethedischargecovertothelowerlipofthe

cutterdeckwithtwobolts(1/4x2-1/2inches)and

twocapnuts(1/4inch)asshowninFigure25.

Note:Donotovertightenthenuts;thiscould

distortthecoverandcausebladecontact.
